The Bard Veterinary Group takes its name and logo from Scotland's most famous poet Robert Burns whose statue stands in the centre of Dumfries town.

Ferrets are kept as pets and also for hunting. It is a carnivore and as such should be fed on a high protein diet. Specific ferret diets are available such as that produced by Excel  which is specially formulated to provide a balanced nutrition.

Neutering of male ferrets reduces their dominant character but most importantly reduces sebaceous secretions thus reducing odour.

Females or Jills that are not used for breeding should be neutered to prevent bone marrow suppression. This can be done at 6-9 months of age.
